This past year the Gospel Rescue Ministries, http://www.grm.org, celebrated 100 years of transforming lives in Washington, DC. I volunteer far too few hours with these amazing people in their School of Tomorrow, where I teach ex-offenders how to double-click, drag-n-drop, and cut-n-paste. But most of all we teach them how to see themselves as God sees them. Everyone who stays through the year-long recovery program leaves trained, employed, housed, and most of all, supernaturally transformed. Lives are forever changed because hearts are forever changed.
This Wednesday, May 7th, GRM is having an Open House from 12:00 noon – 4:00PM and 6:00PM – 8:00PM.

we do some ministry at the rescue mission in our area…nothing more blessing to me than to worship with people who have nothing and just sense God fill the room…some times it feels like the roof will fly off!! so we go to bless, and they bless us..God is close to the brokenhearted…the wounded, and the ones seeking for truth..I just believe it! very cool post!
Hey Darla! Yes, I love to go there and meet up with Jesus.
Ric,
Thanks for sharing your thoughts and the video clip.
I’ve been privileged to lead worship once a month for the past 8-9 (?) years at our local men’s gospel mission.
It’s sort of intimidating at first since they’re a ‘captive audience’ (having to attend the service to get their meal =), and so often not that ‘enthused’ with what is shared. But it doesn’t take long to see they are real people like everyone else, and actually more willing to receive from the Lord because of the ‘place’ He presently has their lives.
They are always so appreciative of our ‘limited’ abilities, and I’m always impressed that their prayer requests are most often for people other than themselves. They really look out for one another, and keep each other accountable to ’stay on track’.
‘Sorta sounds like the Body of Christ, huh?? =)!!
I’m blessed to be there even when it may not look like God has ‘moved in their hearts’ by what is seen on the outside. He knows, and we probably won’t ever until heaven ( but I’m sure it will be ‘worth the wait’ =)!
D-
Awesome work, Ric. It takes all of us, doing what we can where we are…
Thanks D. Yes, your description sounds familiar. I agree, it will be well worth the wait.
Michelle thank you.
Ric,
I appreciate what you’re doing there more than you’ll know.

Thank you Sam.
That sounds like a tremendous ministry, Ric…thanks for your thoughts and ministry. I will get on the Gospel Rescue Ministries website and add their contact information to our homeless outreach directory. The next time I’m down there I’ll have to stop by and check it out.
-Sam
Sam, by all means, please do. Thanks for coming by.
