“How would you describe your childhood?”
I remember that question being posed to me by the pastor during one of our 3 premarital counseling visits. My fiance and I were recounting our childhood together in his office.
My one word response: “Great!” I lived in denialville. I went on to explain our family vacations where we would camp on a lake. I proudly reported how we ALWAYS ate dinner together. We went horseback riding on our own horses. Internally, I clung to the very good and disposed the horrific.
As great as the good times were, they did not, do not , and will not compensate for the ugly times. If that were possible, we would not need Christ.
Great is a great word though. Its really jest a vague adjective.
Great fun? Yes.
Great pain? Yes.
Great horror? Well, ok, yes.
Great love? Yes, otherwise I would not be here.

3 out of 4 of those are down to knowing and being human.
One out of four is down to knowing God.
i actually think that is a VERY high ratio compared to what most of us humans ever get to experience in this life.
Maybe you were blessed above all?
or maybe your list was not complete?
Sometimes a different perspective on a thing can really help us overcome it? Better see what is real and what is deception or lies.
The trick is ‘moving away’ from our old aspect/view to a fresh new one without dragging the negativity with us to the ‘new’ location/view.
Practice on ’small’ things may help us learn how to do this effectively?
i for one am very glad you are still here
Got any ‘fun’ poems of late?

The only thing that counts is that you are no longer living in denialville.
You have a great wife, children and grandchildren.
“As great as the good times were, they did not, do not , and will not compensate for the ugly times. If that were possible, we would not need Christ.”
Said with excellence.
All of these things bring us closer to Him…
i miss you and patty..i think we need another cookout…just saying..i didn’t get to sit at the cabin long enough..I call for a “do-over”!
yeah, a do-over….I like what William said… so I’m gonna copy him…
Give Patty a hug….you guys are a great team!
anytime – the [cabin] door is always open.
Hope whatever you are doing it is in the company of some who understand and can offer support for your journey!
Sometimes we all need time alone but sometimes it’s good to know we are not.

True, true.
Hi, Ric. Been thinking about you and your journey. You encourage me a lot. It’s very hard to do what you’re doing. I heartily admire you for being brave enough to face it.
