About

life is goodA teacher, a learner, a speaker, a listener, a dad, a son, a granddad, a grandson, a husband, a bride, a warrior, a peacemaker, a slave, alive, adopted, appalled, apart, a part, and amazed. I often see God in the most unexpected places, from dryer lint to my own heart.

I live in Gambrills, Maryland with my wife Patti. Although my tent-making trade is software engineering my passion is sharing stories about life with all who might hear. With my poems and stories I invite the reader and listener on a journey to the one thing, the only thing, that truly matters. You can read some of my poetry here.

My bride enjoying a sunset on the shores of Lake Erie (2002)

As a child I was deathly afraid of the dark.
I would frequently hide from the dark under my covers
with my music blaring and my eyes closed.
The absurdity of it all never really sunk in–
I was hiding in the dark from the dark!

No longer afraid of the dark,
I now enjoy a healthy fear of the light.

  1. ric, that’s quite a list, and I can certainly believe every bit of it. We have many similarities, too. I want to browse around a bit more later, but now, it off to take the grandchildren to school and do some bike riding.

  2. Hi peracherpen Ron. Welcome. Please browse. Good to see you here.

  3. I would love to add you to my blogroll, if that’s okay with you. Thanks for visiting my blog, and leaving a comment.

Yes, I’ve been 99.9% Linux for several years now, and wouldn’t go back to M$ World for anything. My two biggest complaints are not being able to use my Dake Reference Library (DRL), which uses the WORDsearch engine, and PrintArtist.

  4. By all means Ron, add away. I will blogroll your site as well.
